You're Beautiful

I’m sure all of you have been through situations where you hate yourself, when insecurity grips on to you. When you look at yourself in the mirror, and all you can see is you being overweight or underweight, crazy hair, puffy eyes, dry skin, oily skin, etc. Those times when you feel rejected, when you feel like you've failed. When darkness surrounds you, when you feel like the ugliest of the lot, when you feel you’re worth nothing and your existence means nothing.

I’m just here to tell you, that you’re not alone. All of us feel that way. The purpose of this post is simply to remind you, of life's pure magic, how beautiful, powerful, wonderful you are, and how far you have reached.

You've helped more than you know, you've done better than you realize and you’re closer than you think. And therefore each time you look into the mirror, you need to believe that you are more than that. Look beyond just your face or appearance, you’re not what the world or your friends think of you. You are not even what you think of yourself. YOU, my friend are beyond just labels or stereotypes; you are uniquely created, perfectly made. And therefore it goes beyond just your makeup or hairdo or the clothes you wear. Your age, or weight, eye colour, skin colour, hair colour doesn't define you. And hence, you do not need to live up to some ridiculous and unobtainable idea.

Yes, you are not perfect. But neither is anyone else. People might find you weird, being normal is boring anyway. You have been to hell and back, your resilience is beautiful. You’re beautiful because you take risks. You’re an inspiration and you’re real.
It’s normal to ask yourself “where am I going?”… “What am I to do with my life?”… “Where do I belong?” …“Who am I as a person?”  It’s okay to have angry outbursts, or to be confused about the future or about yourself and the world. Your night-time unvoiced fears, sudden tears, the sweeping highs, and rocky lows are not what define you.

You’re the most trustworthy friend, the best child to you parents, even though they might not think so. Remember, time is on your side and ‘no’ is never forever. Sit back and think of all your dreams that have already come true, I’m sure they are a lot. There, you are a legend already.

You know what is right and you know what is wrong.  You know what makes you sad and hurtful, as well as what makes you happy and fulfilled.  What a wonder it is to be you…

You are who you are. You are potential and you can truly be whatever you wish to. You are possibility, hope and ability. You can do whatever you want, accomplish things greater than you can ever think of.  You are beautiful and special. Nothing that happens in your entire life can stop your thoughts from becoming things and your words from giving you wings. Have faith; forget what everything around you tells you to be. If they don’t notice your good looks, strengths and your sashay, I feel sorry for them, because, you are beautiful.

You’re beautiful because you believe in things. Even when it’s easier to be cynical, skeptical, hyper-rational, you keep believing because you know believing in things is what makes them real. You’re beautiful for that reason, because you can do something lots of people can’t. You have been through things most people haven’t. You have been hurt, troubled and you still stay strong. You are happiness and you give people happiness.

You’re beautiful and you shouldn't wait for someone else to tell you that. You already know it, just see it. Only if you’re able to love and believe in yourself with people love and believe in you.
You are in your journey, writing the story of your precious life.  Each day of your life you write a new paragraph.  Make it a wondrous story, the most exciting and joyous adventure it can possibly become. And always remember, you’re loved.

You are beautiful!

I Love you guys.
xoxo

Easy Step by Step Cat Eye Tutorial

A perfect cat eye look is forever fashionable and suits almost all eyes shapes. It can give you the desired look. Right from sultry to mysterious and from cute to bold. Just a perfect cat eye with subtle makeup looks fabulous too. You can use any color pencil or gel eye liner to achieve this look. (I use a simple, black eye pencil)

Here are 4 easy steps to achieving the perfect cat eye:
1.     Starting from the inner corner of your upper lid, draw a line as close to you lashes as possible. To create a dramatic look make this line thick, or create a thin line for a more subtle look.
2.     To create your eyeliner wing, draw a line starting from the last lash outwards. You can now decide the length & angle to your eye liner.
3.     After drawing your wing, draw a line back to your upper lash line. This should create an empty triangle on your upper lid. To make you eyeliner thick, draw a bigger triangle, ending at the middle part of your lash line. For a more subtle look, draw a small triangle that finishes in your outer corner.
4.     Color in the triangle with your pencil.

You’re now all set to flaunt your Perfect Cat Eyes.
Don’t forget to use a coat or two of mascara to complete this look.

Take Care,
Xoxo

What's in my bag ? / Essential Bag Items.

These are a few items that are always in my handbag/backpack, either for emergency or daily use. I consider these as must haves for an already packed bag.
Today I'm going to share with you a few essential ideas for your bag. Don't forget to make note and shove it in immediately.

1. ANY FORM OF IDENTITY

You should always carry some form of identification with you; you never know when you’ll have to prove your identity and that in itself makes this item top my list of essential items for my handbag. So, don't forget to carry either or college/office ID card or maybe or driving license.

2. PURSE/ WALLET

No one can survive without money. That makes it the most essential item in my bag.

3. MEDICINE

You don’t need to take the whole medicine cabinet with you, but grab a few pain killers and a crocin, and you're good to go.

4. LIP BALM

Keep those lips hydrated (especially in cold weather!). I cannot do without 'Baby lips.'

5. DEODORANT/ BODY MIST

No one likes the stench of body odor! Shove a mini deodorant into your bag, one thing that you can't miss for sure.

6. BAND-AID

Stock up on band-aids. You never know when you'll get an unexpected cut. Accident prone that I am, the band-aids definitely come in handy!

7. PENS

In case you need to sign something, you'll be prepared with a pen. Or if you need to jot down a small reminder to yourself.

8. PACK OF TISSUES

I am real clumsy, so this is surely an essential for me. You never know when you’ll get hit with a bloody or runny nose. I carry a small travel size pack with me.

9. HAND SANITIZER

Hand sanitizers come in so much handy (especially in these winter months when the flu is going around!) while traveling, before eating, etc.

10. A FEW SAFETY PINS

You'll never know when a button of a shirt will pop out or any need of last minute alteration comes your way. All you need are a few safety pins for last minute damage control and you'll be prepared for almost ant fashion emergency

11. KEYS

How could you leave your home without your keys? This necessity is pretty much a given. House keys, car keys, office keys; make sure you got them all!

12. POST ITS

You’ll never know when you’ll need to scribble down a reminder or a phone number you’ll need to call later. Post Its are perfect for this. A pad of paper can do the trick as well!

13. MINTS OR GUM

Fresh breath? Yes, please! Dump a pack of gum or mints into your everyday bag so you won't be stuck with bad breath all day long!

14. SUNGLASSES
The sun, I hate !!! Just can't take.

15. WATER

So, ladies, do you have any (if not all) of these essential items in your bag? If not, do you have any other items that you must have in your bag at all times?

Wearing a saree ...

The idea of a saree fascinates me. It’s beautiful, One single cloth that can be draped in 217 different ways. When I rewind and go back to take a walk down the saree wear memory lane, it takes me through some interesting and memorable moments. The first time I wore a saree was for my school farewell, I still remember driving my mother crazy in a hunt for a saree. I remember how exciting it was when i finally found a saree i liked, searched for matching accessories, shoes and then pleaded my neighbour to drape it for me. Our school farewell marked the end of our school days. I still remember that bitter sweet feeling. Those tears we shed, we knew that hardly any of us would meet often. We were not wrong.

Anyway, leaving that nostalgia aside, I feel that a saree is the best outfit a woman can wear. It’s elegant, an excellent attention grabber, adapts to your figure – I know that most of us are very conscious about our attire matching or suiting our figures. Well, I have learnt that the Saree is just the right thing for such a purpose. One can adjust one’s style of draping a Saree to one’s figure. Tall and slim? Wrap it closely with an unpleated, long pallu. It will enhance your height without making you look too thin or bony. For a stout figure on the other hand, wear it a little loosely with a well pleated and pinned pallu so that it doesn’t make you look bulky and gives you a touch of elegance. Then again, you can play around with the prints and patterns and styles of blouses and couple them with the right accessories. There are permutations and combinations to suit everyone. You can’t deny that it’s a sexy outfit and can make anybody look amazing.
But all said and done, It was now my turn to wear a saree for a day called the ‘Tie and Saree Day’ in college. As much as I Love the Saree, I had this strong feeling that i wouldn’t be able to carry it off and more than that, I live nowhere close to college, so travelling in something like that would lead to nothing but disappointment. ( What if it falls off and all :P ) At the same time, I did not want to play spoilt-sport so I hesitantly went on a saree hunt. As i looked out for Sarees, My enthusiasm suddenly built up and I was all excited about wearing it. After a long search, I finally found a saree I really liked, I picked up a simple, but really classy saree. For the blouse, since it was too late to stitch one, I wore my black sleeveless crop top which luckily went amazingly well with the saree.
Here are a few pictures :

(Thats Nikita, she always finds a quirky way out)

( And, This is Mr. Photographer )

At the end of this, I learnt that When a Saree is draped in the right manner and is pinned up in the required places, not only is it elegant, it is easy to handle (you DO NOT need to struggle with even one inch of the cloth; just let it comfortably BE on you.) Once you get used to the feel of it, you’ll realize that whoever that intelligent woman was who first draped it the way we do, took the idea of ‘leg space’ very seriously. There is a reason why there are so many pleats to a Saree. Not only does it look pretty but when you walk, the pleats provide enough cloth that flexes- accordion like- to make room for your legs!

So, step out of your comfort zone and do wear a saree at least once. Trust me, You’ll fall in Love with yourself.

I did.

Your views ans suggestions are most welcomed. :)

Lots of Love,
Alisha.
