Reasons to Love Colbie Caillat and 'Try'

'You don't have to try so hard
You don't have to give it all away
You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up
You don't have to change a single thing

You don't have to try, try, try, try
You don't have to try, try, try, try'.......

Seven years after her debut with the hit song “Bubbly,” Caillat is still so bubbly and Infectious and Beautiful. She’s different. She seems to understand where we’re at. As a girl from Malibu, she’s a girl after my own heart. She’s seen, like I have, the skinny girls we ogle at the pool or at clubs, one part awe of how perfect they look, one part jealous because you don’t look like that. She’s witnessed, like we all have, the double standards society places on body image. Caillat just knows how to make the listener feel good.

Every song by Caillat is so positive. It’s not prudish or naive, it is clean. It is happy. She seems like a woman who isn’t bogged down by people’s perceptions of her, she stands up for herself and for what is right. Her music speaks just that.

She is someone who has a Universal appeal. Her songs skew females for sure, but so many of my guy friends sing her songs, Bubbly for instance. Her concerts are full of people of all ages, right from kids to the youth to young married couples, middle-aged couples, crazy jamming women in their 40s, also old people. What other pop artists can say the same about their shows?
She has a steadily rising stock. She delivers slowly and steadily, like a good investment and puts a lot of thought into her work. For example, Caillat recently came out with the song “Try”, it reminds us that beauty comes from within and radiates out through our being.

She repeatedly asks the question Do you like you?

Because, that is what is important. If your answer is a Yes, Congratulations; you've achieved Self-Acceptance.
However, for most of us, however, it doesn't come as easily. We wish that our boobs were bigger, or that our butt were rounder, our stomach flatter, our legs longer, our skin clearer… the list goes on and on. It’s so easy to it is so easy to long for what we do not have and ignore what we have. And that’s only the physical aspects. We may also wish we sang well, had more talents, had more likable qualities…
But ultimately, we’re not perfect. Even the girl in the magazine doesn't look like the girl in the magazine

The song ends with, 'Take your make-up off/Let your hair down/Take a breath/Look into the mirror, at yourself/Don’t you like you?/Cause I like you.' This sums up the whole song. We need to be happy with ourselves and not do things just so that we can be accepted in society or so that you can impress a certain someone. There is so much pressure to be perfect. There are so many diets, makeup, hair products etc to “help girls out”. REALLY NOW ?!

The music video is also great because it starts out with people of all ages with makeup and hair done but then as the song goes on they start taking off their makeup and undoing their hair and are just happy with themselves.

If you guys haven't watched it, you should.

Always remember, you're beautiful.

Lots of Love,
Alisha.

MUSIC

Music, because everything I've ever thought, felt, or lived by was molded by it, and everything I'll ever think, feel, or say can be conveyed through it.

Also, isn't there is song for (almost) every heartache, for every joy, for every new found love, for every love lost? It’s just always there, no matter what. Whether you’re happy or sad or just bored. It can always cheer me up! ALWAYS.

I can never get bored with music. At times, I'm so lost into what I'm listening to, that I unknowingly sing it out loud at railway stations or bus stops and finally realize that there are a lot of people just staring at me.

Music is one thing that can make me believe that things are perfect. It is the one thing that can make me laugh, make me cry, make me dance and comfort me. Just ONE perfect song makes everything better. It adds that extra flavour to life.

Music is something that I have been raised with so, there has never really been an escape. (Not that I wanted one). I was pushed into learning the guitar and then the keyboard and well, which Goan household doesn't show off their amazing Playlist. How I love Sunday Mornings and the songs that dad plays either on the guitar or his favourite classics. It just somehow makes Sunday feel like a Sunday, Everything is so lively and Happy. It sets in the mood.

According to me, Music is the art that moves though you, it is perhaps a guide, into one’s soul. Correct me if I'm wrong, but music is the greatest indicator of what one really believes in. It is perhaps the best mirror to your soul that you will ever find. The music you listen to will always tell you what mood you are in.

And one thing I've realized is that, Music isn't just something that orchestras perform, or bands play, it’s the chirping of the bird’s, even our rhythmic heartbeats. Life without music would be like life without the enhancement of colors: dull and monotonous.

I love moments, when I’m just alone on the terrace with a Cup of Coffee, My Iphone and My JBL Headphones listening to my favourite music while I star gaze. ❤️

What are your happy music moments?

Listen to the song in you.

Listen
To the song in you.
It's there
In whatever puts stars
In your eyes
And makes your heart sing.
Listen
To your feelings
And you will hear
Who you are
And what you must do.
Listen
To your needs
And you will know
Where to find
What you are looking for.
Listen
To the wisdom within.
It is trying to lead you
To your destiny.
Listen
To the song in you
And your life
Will be one of harmony.
You will be
Who you were meant to be,
You will be complete
And at peace
And happier than you've ever been,
If only you will
Listen
To the song in you . . .

OMG ! Cadbury Flakes

My Uncle sent me a huge packet of Flakes from Dubai Today. And I couldn’t help but be overjoyed and overexcited and share this with yáll.

So, My Love for Cadbury Flakes is eternal !! ❤️

It tops Alisha's Most Favourite List. ❤️
It's crumbly, flaky, yummy and it Melts in your mouth. The feeling is divine❤️ So, the inquisitive person in me wanted to know how someone even thought of something THIS DELICIOUS. I basically wanted to know The Story behind MY FAVOURITE CHOCOLATE. I’m sure you Flake Lovers would want to know too.

Here it is,
Apparently, The Cadbury Flake bar was originally launched in 1920. The concept of The Flake was discovered by a Cadbury employee who filled the chocolate moulds. Once the moulds were full, the excess chocolate used to spill over the edge and fold down in a stream of chocolate. Once this stream cooled, the Flake product was created as the texture had many thin layers of chocolate and was very crumbly and flakey! (The thought of it itself makes my mouth water)
God bless that employee!!

That’s it for now.

See you soon.
Lots of Love,
Alisha ❤️

The dead talk ...

The top 10 things dead people want to tell living people are:

1. They're not dead.

2. They're sorry for any pain they caused.

3. There's no such thing as a devil or hell.

4. They were ready to go when they went.

5. You're not ready.

6. They finally understand what they were missing.

7. Nothing can prepare you for the beauty of the moment you arrive.

8. Don't try to understand this now, but life is exceedingly fair.

9. Your pets are as crazy, brilliant and loving, here, as they were there.

10. Life really is all about love, but not just loving those who love you...

In their own words,
The Universe

I loved this Note that I received from The Universe, and thought of sharing it with you.

Have a Nice Day.

Little Joys

I turned 21 exactly 2 weeks back. And as a gift, my friend gave me a really fancy helium balloon with a small bag full on 21 pretty lil notes written to me by my really close friends. I loved it. It was MY MOST FAVORITE birthday gift !!!
And all I wanted was for it to never burst or get deflated or whatever else. I just wanted it, as a memory forever.
But then, I knew I was being childish and I also knew that it's not gonna last for even more than a week.

( The above picture was clicked on my Birthday )

BUT IT DID !!!

It's 2 weeks now. And it's still there.

And this gives me so much happiness.

I know it's funny how a balloon can make me so happy, but it just did. :')

Feel free to share your lil joys with me the ones that make your day.

Lots of Love,
Alisha ❤️

My Study Essentials

Hello,

It's that time again..  EXAMSS !! I think most of you guys are locked up inside and sulking/procrastinating as well. It just isn't fair.. EXAMS are just not fair, especially in the month that I love the most. But, not that we have an option.

Anyway, I don't know about you, but I just cannot concentrate. I will do Everything else, but study. Unless, my notes are really fancy and colourful.
So, since I know most of my readers are other bloggers/college students so I thought this was the perfect time to take a study break, complain about how much board exams suck, and share our study tips/essentials! In fact, I should be studying right now, but instead I'm writing this post...typical Alisha.

This is just a Basic list that helps me study well. And not move around the place, or think of Damon Salvatore or Pizza. Like I mentioned before, I love colour and everything fancy. My list consists of just that!
Let’s get to the point : Here are my study essentials.

1.Colour Pens ( To mark or highlight whatever I find important )
2.Colourful Post-its ( If there is something I NEED to mention or remember )
3.A scrap book ( To pen down notes )
4.Water ( Although a lot of people prefer coffee )
5.Text Book/ Book with Notes

So that's basically it! I hope the odds are ever in your favour with exams. Mine are going to be a lil blahh this year, considering I have continuous papers and hardly 15 days left. Yes, the test gods hate me. I've just accepted that.
Feel free to share some of your study essentials with me and also, I will be extremely happy to hear how much you hate exams too. Haha

15 little known Facts about STD's. MUST READ !

Hello,
Let’s talk about STD’s.

Yes, I’m sure you think you know all about it – SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES. I thought the same too, until today, when I ran through like a 100 websites only to be completely blown away.

So here’s the lowdown on all you need to know to be a safe and responsible sexually active adult. Advisory: It isn’t all bouquets and balloons.

1. An STI (sexually transmitted infection) is a germ (virus, bacteria, parasite) that can cause an illness inside a person even though the person doesn’t have any symptoms. An STD (sexually transmitted disease) refers to infections that are causing symptoms or problems.

2. STIs/STDs were previously called “venereal diseases” (VDs), a term which derives from Veneris, or Venus, the Roman goddess of love.

3. A girl is four times more likely to contract an STI/STD than she is to become pregnant.

4. Pre-ejaculate can still transmit infection. Withdrawing before ejaculation also does not prevent STDs.

5. Unprotected anal intercourse with a partner whose status for STIs/STDs is unknown is the highest-risk sexual practice.

6. Genital pimples do not necessarily mean an STD and may simply indicate a case of genital acne.

7. The human papillomavirus (HPV) is currently the fastest growing STI/STD.

8. Mutual masturbation is not a guarantee against contracting an STD. Pubic lice, scabies, bacterial vaginosis cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex, and human papillomavirus virus (HPV) can all be contracted through mutual masturbation.

9. Crabs (pubic lice) are small parasites that feed on human blood. They can be sexually transmitted even if there is no penetration or bodily fluid exchanged or even if a condom is worn. They can live 24 hours off a human host, making it possible to get crabs from infested bedding or clothes. Animals do not get crabs.

10. STIs/STDs were previously called “venereal diseases” (VDs), a term which derives from Veneris, or Venus, the Roman goddess of love.

11. While some STIs/STDs—such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis—are curable, if left untreated, they can cause death, infertility, chronic pain, serious birth defects, and miscarriages.

12. Many sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, can be transmitted through oral sex.

13. STIs/STDs cannot be acquired in a swimming or public bathroom (unless you have sex in the pool or on the toilet). Most STIs/STDs are spread only through direct genital contact and begin to die immediately after they leave the infected person.

14. Common symptoms of STDs include burning or pain while urinating; any discharge from the opening of the penis; a change in a woman’s normal vaginal discharge or smell; sores, blisters, rashes, bums, swellings, or growths around the penis, vagina, or rectum; itching, burning, or pain around the penis, vagina, or anus; pain during sex; and pain in the lower abdomen.

15. A condom merely reduces—but does not eliminate—the risk of an STD.

However, the discomfiture of purchasing condoms is still better than the discomfiture of a burning sensation while peeing.
A sobering overview indeed! It is amply apparent that unprotected or multiple partner sex offers a landmine situation. The fail-safe is clear enough: be good when you’re being bad. Play safe and always use a condom!

Lots of Love,

Alisha
❤️

PS. I really wanted to put up pictures of STD's but, I really could not. ( They are disgusting )
You guys should really check out pictures on Google Images.

Self Love :)

Do you think you’re fat, dark, ugly, good for nothing or the worst person who has ever existed? Do you think you’re not worth love and that nobody loves you or will love you?
You are not alone.

In a day & age where nothing is ever good enough; fast enough; advanced enough or perfect enough, it's extremely hard to accept and acknowledge that who you are - inside & out - right now, is the best version of yourself that you can be. And that that person is amazing, worthy of love, care and respect..
In this world, being able to love who you are is tough. Many times, society ingrains in us a sense of never being good enough and that the only way to be great is to be like everyone else.
There have been times I’ve hated the way I looked, the way I acted, the person I thought I was - I've spent years criticising myself due to this imaginary idea of perfection. An idea implanted and passed down by the media, editing software’s and peer pressure.

Yesterday was one of those days.

Just then I came across this quote on We Heart It:

I think it’s so breathtakingly beautiful and true.

Life is entirely too short to hate the skin you're in. To feel bound by non-existent rules and ideals. It's time to love yourself, be kind to yourself and to shine from the inside out. Never be afraid to be who you are. Embrace your quirks, flaws and all. Without them, you're just another copy and paste. Without them, you wouldn't be YOU, and there's far more value in that then you realise. Be your own superhero. Make your rules. BE YOURSELF. There's no-one else like you on this planet we call home and that in itself is a truly awesome thing.

Let’s face the facts and realize that we are not perfect. No one is perfect! And that is definitely something to be celebrated! As hard as you try, you can never be perfect. And I personally think that that is awesome! Imperfection is pure beauty. Why would you want to change that? So love who you are and every flaw that comes with you!

Here are a few other quotes I love :

Of Wants and Worries ...

What happens when someone worries?

Basically, they think of 100 reasons why something might go wrong. And all of those thoughts then struggle to become things, sometimes overriding their more constructive thoughts.

Ain't pretty. But that's the power of worry.

Now, let's say you want something fantastic to manifest in your life.

Have you sat down yet and listed 100 reasons why it might come to you easily, fast, and harmoniously?

I think you should :)

Today works,
    - A note from the Universe.

Until Next Time,
Alisha.

VOTRE Microdermabrasion Gel Review

Hello Girlies,
I’ve planned on reviewing the Products I Love and I promise that all the products that I review will be my honest thoughts about the product, based on my personal experiences.
I’m going to start by reviewing The VOTRE Microdermabrasion Gel.

For those who don’t know, Microdermabrasion is a light, non-surgical procedure that physically exfoliates the outermost layer of dead skin cells from your epidermis. It helps with tone, texture, fine lines, wrinkles, acne and acne scarring. The treatment leaves your skin instantly smoother. By gently exfoliating the epidermis, microdermabrasion increases cellular turnover, along with improving the appearance of sun damage.

I am a Final Year student, living in Mumbai, travelling in a local train to get to college. And for those who read my blog will know that I also work for Redbull after college hours. My point being, I’m out all day, travelling in the heat and pollution. And I honestly feel terrible that my skin has to deal with it. Blahh. I do go for regular cleanups, but I honestly do not have the time anymore.
BUT ... Tadaaa ....

So, I got The VOTRE Microdermabrasion Gel in my July Fab Bag, AND I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE IT.

To start with, VOTRE is PETA Certified and claims to be a brand that offers 100% Botanical, Vegan and cruelty free products.
So, all the products of VOTRE are completely natural and formulated with rare and precious ingredients like vegetable, plant and marine complexes.

That said... Let’s get on with it.
So, this lil transparent Jar, claims to accelerate cell renewal.
It is like a scrub with very micro particles. The gel is light and the granules are very fine. It spreads easily and is very easy to use. It also washes off easily and leaves skin non-greasy and glowing! LIKE A POLISHED GLOW!!
I honestly feel that the product is super powerful and in just one use my face feels soft. (As soft as a baby’s Bum. :P )

DIRECTIONS FOR USE :
Cleanse skin thoroughly before application. Skin should be left damp. Apply modest amount to skin, massaging in upward circular motion for up to 2 minutes. Adjust pressure of massage according to skin type and degree of sensitivity. Always avoid any contact with the eyes. Rinse completely with tepid water, making certain to remove all traces of Gel.
See that you don’t keep it for too long or else, slight pink skin tone and tingling sensation is possible.

USES OF MICRODERMABRASION GEL :
  • Improve age spots and black heads.
  • Improve hyperpigmentation (patches of darkened skin).
  • Exfoliate your skin, resulting in a refreshed appearance.
  • Lessen the appearance of stretch marks.
  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Reduce or eliminate enlarged pores.
  • Treat acne and the scars left by acne

PROS :
·         ❤️ Gentle on skin.
·         ❤️ The granules are fine & work fabulously without being harsh on the skin.
·        ❤️  Easy to use.

CONS :
·        ❤️ It’s Expensive. ( Rs. 810 for am 1.40 Oz Jar )
·        ❤️ For some reason I feel like it smells like Fevicol.
·        ❤️ Only available online.

That’s all about it.
Do let me know if you guys have any queries regarding the product, I will surely answer them if I can.

I hope you liked my review and found it helpful.

Until next time,
Alisha

Being a Redbull Girl ...

'Wiiings Team Members' they call us. The face of the Brand we are :)
Promotions are not all that we do,
We know everything there is to know...
about the drink, as well as the Brand as a whole.

❤️

I still remember The Test Flight Day ( recruitment ) The anxiety and anxiousness.
That urge for getting in but the doubt that I may not.

I did get in.
With Kristen, my lovely.
My life seemed complete,
Coz, that's all I wanted.

❤️

As months passed,
This company, This job sunk in.
The other girls working with me were like family.

The 6 hour shifts,
The long gossip sessions.
The search for offices or colleges,
The joy of returning with 0 returned cans.
Were treasured and looked forward to.

The pride of carrying the most desired bag,
And the pleasure of being the only one allowed to wear the Redbull Branding or Driving the Mini Cooper cannot be explained.

❤️

The happiness of seeing someone buy a can,
The pride after a successful Redbull Event.
The Natural hatred towards other energy drinks
And people addressing you as a Redbull Girl, more than your name,
Will always be little WTM things.

The endless Music festivals I've attended,
The awesome people I've met,
The places I've been to,
Would never be possible without Redbull.

❤️

The Love Hate Relationship with the boss,
The awaited monthly meetings,
The friendships that we've made ...
Will continue forever.

This job has taught me patience, kindness ❤️
It has taught me to be punctual ❤️
And the art of functioning as a team ❤️
It has taught me to never take no as an answer ❤️
It has taught me to stand for what I feel is right ❤️
It has taught me to answer the most foolish questions with great confidence ❤️
And most of all ... It has taught me to always put up a smile :)

It's been 3 years since the interview day now ...
There have surely been ups and downs.
Several reasons to leave.
Many more to stay.
This company has taught me... Never to give up and to always make your way.

❤️

And so, my journey continues without the one I first started it with.

Carol, Meghana, Saloni and Kristen, thank you for this beautiful Redbull journey that you guys have given me.
I really wish y'all didn't have to leave.
Working here is incomplete without y'all.
But the Memories will last forever.
I Love you girlies :')

Forever and For Always.
Alisha.

Picture Review : March

March has been a lil less hectic than the other two months but it was crazy for sure. Exaaaams !!! Final Semester. And like all of you know,no one really studies during study leave we are all busy doing ‘this’.

This is how march was to me :
I met school best friend after years and we sat and spoke for hours. About everything !! All the we missed out on, spoke about all the shit that we used to do and of course about how much we missed each other.

STUDY LEAVE !!! So many notes all over the place. Sorting them out took a whole day.

I'm now interning with DDB Mudra in the Marketing team as A Student Brand Director. :)
Pre Exam gifts are always the best !!! If you guy haven't had the dessert jars from LSD. Y'all must !! This is The Red Velvet Cheese Cupcake in a jar.
It is almost a tradition now. I click selfies when I'm bored. So, that's exactly what I did.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DEAREST MAMA !!!

                                                   Post Exam Chilling sessions !!!!
I visited Pune for the 1st time and I loved it. The place, The people and Everything about it. Except the Heat. haha.
This is what I wore the day I went clubbing.
The Beef Burger at Burger King in Pune is Insane. It was bigger than my face and so filling. I spent an hour having only one half and another hour staring at the other half. It's impossible to finish. I could'nt.
Then, It was this Manaics Birthday !!! No pictures to show. ''Coz, we aint got no time for that'' haha. It was too much fun.

Chilled with this pretty lady a lil too much.
My stay at Pune just kept extending.

So yes, Overall it was an amazing month and my Exams were also really good. Cannot wait for the results now :)

Have a nice day,
xoxo
